Lower Salmon River Whitewater Rafting
The Lower Salmon River in Idaho has virtually everything needed for the perfect rafting trip. At four days it's long enough to really unwind and relax without being so long it's hard to pull off. It has scenery, every day on the Lower Salmon River floats through a unique, awe inspiring, DEEP river gorge. The warm water combined with great weather makes swimming on this trip a joy and raises the excitement for getting splashed in the rapids. In the case of rapids, the Lower Salmon River has them in spades. Every day is filled with technically straight forward whitewater rapids packed full of BIG thrilling waves. For the active vacation taker, run this trip in an inflatable kayak; it's probably the premier section of river in the country for it. Finally add in gourmet camping on white sand beaches and what is probably the most logistically enjoyable trip in the country, concluding with a jet boat ride back into downtown Lewiston. Put all this together and it's hard to believe a better rafting trip could possibly exist.
The Salmon River of Idaho is the longest un-dammed river in the country. Without a dam and flowing through almost entirely wilderness, the Salmon River stays amazingly clean. However it also fluctuates dramatically in flow. Trips July 1 through July 15 on a typical year are ideal for those looking for the biggest adventure. From July 15th through August 15th the Lower Salmon River rafting trip is the premier family camping and rafting trip in the country.
A shorter 3-day and a longer 5-day option are available by request. The 5-day adds on a thrilling big water section the day before the standard 4-day trip.
