Full Salmon River Rafting Combo
Come and experience everything Idaho’s beautiful Salmon River has to offer. On this 13 day white water rafting adventure we will combine the standard Main Salmon rafting trip with our standard Lower Salmon rafting trip and add in the action packed white water section in between them.
The group starts the adventure in Salmon Idaho, near the border of Montana where we will hop on a bus and travel one and half hours down river to the edge of the Frank Church Wilderness and the start of the un-equaled Main Salmon River. Known as the “River of No Return” the next 5 days are filled with thrilling class II, III, and IV white water during the days and pristine riverside camps at night. On this upper section of the river we will travel through deep evergreen forests and the second deepest gorge in the U.S. before arriving in the high dessert of the Lower Salmon Corridor. Up here you can expect to see big horn sheep, deer, eagles, and the occasional bear if you keep your eyes peeled.
On days six and seven you will notice the topography change as the river increases in size. We move away from evergreen forests and into the grandeur of high dessert and deep canyon gorges that is the Lower Salmon River. As the group floats down river the rapids change character from more technical to larger waves with straightforward lines. The beaches grow in size as they lose tree cover and the temperature of the air and water heats up. The Lower Salmon River is a special place, with great camping, thrilling rapids, and stars un-matched anywhere.
As the paddling concludes the group has traveled from the border of Montana, completely across Idaho to the border of Oregon. Here, at the Snake River we hop on a jet-boat and enjoy a fast paced view of the Snake while ride into Lewiston.
