Rogue River Fishing Trips
The Rogue River has long been known for it’s healthy and diverse fishery. Legends surrounding the quality of our angling have attracted the wealthy and powerful from around the globe, including U.S. Presidents, to take on the powerful Salmon and Steelhead calling our beautiful river home.
Like fishing anywhere the Rogue River has seasons making for the best angling. Fall salmon and steelhead begin to arrive in late July with the fishing picking up in mid August. The Salmon and Steelhead runs peak in mid-September to early October and continue on until early November. This fall run is a great opportunity to battle our world famous, “half-pounders” (steelhead ranging from one to seven pounds). A day spent battling these aggressive fish on a fly is a day not soon forgotten by any angler.
Winter steelhead begin in mid December, peak in late January, and continue on through March. Catching a winter steelhead can prove the most rewarding of all fish as the angler must battle the elements to take on these legendary fighters.
Fishing trips on the Rogue River are spent floating in a Mckenzie River style drift boat with both fly fishing exclusive or bait and spinners depending on the preference of the angler. On your float you get more than just the joy of fishing the Rogue River, you will take in the tranquility of crisp morning air floating above the drifting current, spectacular Southern Oregon wildlife and scenery, all while floating with your wife, kid, or favorite fishing buddy.
