River Boarding the Rogue River - 1-day
If you are looking for the ultimate river experience, the New Zealand river craze of River Boarding has come to the Rogue River and Oregon. With fins on your feet and your "Rip Board" river board in your hands you will become engulfed in the white water. The feeling of skating over the water, flying off the waves, and diving into holes will have you hollering with joy and laughing with delight. In the flatwater you can hop on the raft and relax until the next exciting rapid.
The trip starts at 9:30 AM at the Rogue River Center, ( 210 Merlin Rd, Merlin Oregon ) with sizing you for equipment and loading in the van. At the rivers edge you will receive a thorough orientation on how to use the board with proper techniques, lessons on how to follow the guide, and everything else you need to get started. As the day progresses the instructor will show you how to start catching eddies, launch off waves, and ride eddie lines like a pro. By the end of the day you should be comfortable kicking your way through class II+ rapids, riding hydraulics, and have a basic understanding of river hydrology allowing you more fully enjoy the river board experience. After completing the 1-day class you will become eligible to rent the river board equipment for use on the 1-day Rogue River recreation section.
These trips are designed for anyone looking to try river boarding. Whether you are first time river runner who wants to jump in the water or a long time rafter/kayaker who needs a new way to experience the river, this is the ideal way to get into the sport. Must be 12 years old or older and be a strong swimmer. A riverside picnic lunch is included.
