New Sotar Inflatable Orange Torpedo for 2011
In 1969 Orange Torpedo Trips was started with a revolutionary new inflatable kayak from Sevylor and the dream of a river pioneer. Over the last 40 years the Orange Torpedo became a defining aspect of the culture on the Rogue River. Now 2011 will start the next generation of Orange Torpedo’s. For the past four years we have been working with industry leading raft designer and local Southern Oregon company,
Sotar, to design a revolutionary new inflatable kayak. We wanted something that lived up the benefits of our long used and loved Tahiti, but also incorporated new materials and technology to build on what was already a great experience. After four years of designing, testing, and running prototypes down the river we have placed our order and look forward to starting off 2011 with the new and improved Orange Torpedo. This new design will be exclusive to Orange Torpedo Trips, so if you want to experience the premier inflatable kayak, this is the place to do it.
This new boat is light weight, flies over waves, has added stability, improved draining, tougher material, and increased speed. The guides who have paddled it, love it. A few customers were lucky enough to make the “test team” and we found it was tough to get them out of the boat to let someone else try. This boat will boat will be making its debut on all multi-day trips in 2011 so sign up now for a Main Salmon lodge trip, Lower Salmon Camping adventure, or a Rogue River lodge trip and experience the new Orange Torpedo for yourself.
Below are just a few pictures from last summers testing of the new boat design. When the final boats arrive they will be in our much more traditional colors, here is a peak to get you ready for next summers trip.
