"Salmon on Tap" Deschutes Brewery and the Lower Salmon River
What goes together better than hot days on the river and cool nights camping under the stars sampling Oregon’s finest craft beers? We don’t think anything does. As a company founded on the unique Idea of inflatable kayaking, we like to find other companies who based their business on unconventional and creative thinking. Deschutes Brewery was founded on a dark beer (Black Butte Porter) which was unconventional to say the least. So we have come together with this innovative craft brewery to create the most unique Lower Salmon rafting trip we have ever done. For 2011 Orange Torpedo Trips has partnered with Deschutes Brewery to bring the first of what we hope will become an annual event of, “the Salmon on Tap” series.
For this four-day rafting adventure down the Lower Salmon River we are going to be joined by the talented and creative Brewmaster of Deschutes Brewery, Larry Sidor. Larry has been working in the brewing industry for 35+ years and with Deschutes Brewery and has been a leader in new and creative brewing techniques including oak barrel aging. With some great creative beers to his name like “Mirror Mirror” and “the Abyss” Larry also works to ensure that our classic Deschutes favorites like “Black Butte Porter” and “Mirror Pond” maintain the high quality fresh ingredients and brewing process that lead to their loved flavors.
For four-day’s rafting the Lower Salmon river you can take in all of the standard experiences of our most popular camping trip along with evening samplings of Deschutes brews led by the brew-master himself. If you love craft beer and want to learn about the art as you put down a few tasty pints of some Oregon classics this is your trip.
Upon arrival at the beach everyday our guides will lay out delicious appetizers to compliment the beers of the evening. As the sun falls a little lower in the sky and temp’s return from the triple digits, dinner will be served and the beer tasting will commence. Relax under the brightening stars while learning what makes certain flavors of your beer in hand standout versus what you were drinking moments before.
