Guide of the Month June 2010 - Jeanne Fields
Some may think that Jeanne is a unusual choice as our “guide of the month” as nobody working for the company has ever seen her step foot in a raft on the river. Perhaps when we think our guide of the month this month we think of it in a broader sense of the idea. While Jeanne may not guide you through rapids you can be sure that any time you’re on an Orange Torpedo Trips adventure Jeanne played a key role in your trip. Virtually no trips make it to the river without her driving their shuttle, packing their boats, and greeting every guest. She has been the glue that holds us together and can always be counted on to show up 20 minutes early, stay 30 minutes late, and accomplish 3 times the work of someone four decades her junior. Fueled almost solely by diet coke and pretzels she can take on the tasks ranging from patching rafts to fixing trailer lights and re-packing the wheel bearings. She is a jack of all trades (except actually going down the river) and is a very special guide of the month for Orange Torpedo Trips.
Interview with Jeanne
How many years have you been with Orange Torpedo Trips? “This is my 27th season. I Started when Orange Torpedo Trips was still based out of a house. I was in charge of preparing food for the 1- day trips.”
What is your favorite part? “I love it all, meeting the people, meeting the guides. The best part is the great people, both customers and guides.”
Favorite memory? “There are so many, The best overall part has been seeing the guides grow up. To watch every year as they improve, grow, and change. It has also been fun to see the changes in the company and how it has evolved over the years.”
Why do you keep coming back? “because I love it. I love the work and I love the people.”
What are you looking forward to this season? “full trips and just having fun”
