Klamath River Family Travel Information
Accomodations
Grants Pass Oregon
If you are coming from the North or will already be in Grants Pass Oregon meeting us at our shop, the Rogue River Center at 210 Merlin Rd, Merlin OR. is your best plan. If you are going to meet us at the Rogue River Center we suggest these local accommodations.
Redwood Motel in Grants Pass 888-535-8824
Shiloh Inn Grants Pass Oregon 541-479-8391
La Quinta Inn Grants Pass Oregon 541-472-1808
Yreka California
If you are coming from the South, Sacramento or the Bay Area, it is easier to spend the night in Yreka California and the drive into Happy Camp in the morning. While staying in Yreka leaves you with an hour and a half drive in the morning it has many more lodging opportunities than Happy Camp. In Yreka we recommend
Miners Inn/Best Western 530-842-4355
Klamath River Camping
If you want to camp in the Happy Camp area the night before or after your trip there are several campgrounds in the Kalmath River corridor. The one we prefere and the one closest to the meeting place in the morning is Curly Jack Campground
Packing
This trip does not require a dry bag because we will be operating both nights out of our base camp set up in a campground. With this in mind just pack in some kind of bag that can easily be moved from your vehicle to ours. Please be conscious of space when packing, but we don't have as many space limitations we have on trips where we need to pack everything onto rafts.
